I need to accept the fact that I don’t feel like training much at all the week after a marathon. I recognize that I need some recovery time and I don’t want to burn out on my training but it does feel like I take the post race week REALLY easy.
4/11 – rest and walking
4/12 – rest and walking
4/13 – yoga
4/14 – yoga
4/15 – 4 mile run (on treadmill)
4/16 – 6 mile run (on treadmill) and core toning
4/17 – rest
The weather this week was typical spring: a teasing taste of a warming day followed by wind, rain, sleet and a spring blizzard. Thus the few miles I did log were on the treadmill. Hearteningly, I am learning to run on it without my shoes squeaking. The cats are a little less concerned and I get to watch horse training DVDs while getting some exercise.
So, yes, I took it easy and I feel pretty good physically. The next marathon is in three weeks in New Mexico. It’s mostly downhill and may be quite warm. Or it could be cold and windy. Hey, its spring.
